That all depends on what you have to store and how well you can use the space in the unit you choose.

Making the most of the space available is an important factor in getting great value from your storage unit, here are a few tips on how to achieve that:-

• Plan how to use the space so that the things you may need to access more often are close to the door
• Place heavy items into the unit first and then stack boxes and lighter items on top filling the space above
• Use sturdy boxes that won’t collapse and pack them as full as possible – we sell good quality boxes
• Wrap crockery and glasses in tissue paper or bubble wrap
• Protect other fragile items including mirrors and pictures with bubble wrap
• Pack heavy items into small boxes which are easier to lift
• Write the contents of each box on the outside to make things easier to find
• Use wardrobe boxes with hangers for your clothes
• Leave fridge and freezer doors slightly open for ventilation
• Wrap table legs in bubble wrap before storing them
• Keep a note of everything you put into storage
• Wrap pictures and mirrors, then stack them on their end in boxes marked ‘fragile’
• Cover your goods with dust sheets to protect against dust
• If you can, put sofas on their end and don’t place heavy items on sofas or mattresses

You can store a wide variety of items such as household furniture and personal belongings, the contents of a shed, garage or loft, electrical equipment, bicycles… the list is endless! If you are unsure then call your nearest centre to discuss.

There are just a few items that you can’t store, these are illegal or flammable items and perishable goods. If you’re storing anything that uses fuel, such as a heater or lawnmower, it must be drained before being stored.

As long as you like! The minimum is one week after that you simply pay monthly until you want to vacate. We will even refund any unused rent you have already paid for.

At Outer Space Storage Centres we offer 24-hour digital security. All rooms are individually alarmed. You will have coded electronic gate access to the building with your own PIN code. Monitored CCTV and fire/smoke detection are also installed in key areas.

You will need a padlock for the door, which you can purchase from us or you can bring your own. You will be the sole key holder unless you authorise another person to have access to your unit. You can then access your unit or container at any time during the access hours that were agreed with your Outer Space Storage Centre Manager at the time you moved in, which could be up to 24 hours a day.

We have ample free parking and you should be able to park close to your unit.

We can accept various forms of payment:-

• cash
• cheque
• credit/debit card
• standing order

Payment for the first month will need to be made at the time of moving in, future payment is by the calendar month, not 4 weekly, so can be made on the same day of every month you stay.
