At our Storage Centre Farnworth facility we have seen a few things in our time both the strange and not so strange. However you hear stories about storage centres that have had the beyond strange in their storage units. That’s why we have dug deep to find what believe are the top 3 strangest things found in storage units from around the world!
- A human leg
In 2007 a man named Mr Whisnant found a meat smoker from the storage unit he had purchased. Great right? Not in this case! Upon opening the meat smoker Mr Whisnant was greeted by an utterly shocking surprise. A leg. Yes you read that right a leg! The original owner of the leg lost it in a plane crash that took place in 2004. He then decided to keep that leg in the storage unit but fell behind in payments, which is how it landed in Mr Whisnants hands! The leg was ultimately returned to the owner after going to court to get the leg back.
- A burglar
In 2011 a burglar thought it would be a great idea to rob a storage unit. The burglar assumed that getting in the storage unit would be the hard part little did he know it would be the getting out that would be the hard bit. While stealing items a guard saw that the door was open and instead of opening the door further he closed the door ultimately locking in the burglar! The guard later called the police after he heard him trying to escape later in the night. Well that definitely taught him a lesson!
- A live hand grenade
As you could imagine in places like America and other countries in which you can legally own a gun you will expect to find guns an ammunition within some peoples storage units however a live hand grenade is not something you would expect to come across very often! Now most people would call the police or the fire department to report the hand grenade but no not the new owner of this storage unit. The owner chose to take the hand grenade and drive to the police station instead. We can imagine that he didn’t get the warmest reception in the room!
